Head Engineering & Maintenance

My main tasks will be...
  • Lead and develop the Bacthera Visp Engineering team and ensure the collaboration for the benefit of the site and enterprise organization. 

  • With the team support and advice customers and line instances in all matters of Engineering. Lead with the team CAPEX projects, that includes future expansions in MC4a and supporting the Bacthera network.

  • Collaborate with the equipment end users for process safety and environmental protection during CAPEX phases.

  • Define and ensure maintenance and qualification strategy and execution for process and QC equipment of MC4a in collaboration with local and global teams and equipment suppliers. Ensure with that all time, compliant ready to use equipment for operations. 

  • Ensure efficient equipment lifecycle and timely troubleshooting of all equipment in accordance with the operational needs. Planning, implementing, and evaluating preventive programs and strategies for the building and the equipment.

  • Coordination of building maintenance, services, and repair work of all building components

  • Ensure investigation of incidents and accidents related to Engineering and Maintanance

  • Support inspections of procedures and processes, including process safety, legal compliance for local EHS, occupational health & safety, occupational hygiene, occupational medicine, ergonomics and environmental protection

  • Enable the Site with safety-related equipment (fire alarm system, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers) according to regulations in collaboration with EHS

  • Ensure needed Automation (OT) support for the manufacturing equipment.

  • Support strategy and concepts to ensure needed clean rooms and containment for our production lines in collaboration with EHS and Manufacturing

  • Responsible to establish and maintain interface to landlord services (e.g. Building Utilities Operations)

  • Represent area of responsibility at customer and health authority inspections

  • Supervision of 3rd party service provider like room cleaning and laundry service 
I bring with me...
  • Master or PhD degree in a relevant life science or engineering field or similar

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the GMP regulated pharmaceutical industry, preferably in microbiologic sector

  • Experienced and comfortable with Health Authority GMP inspections (e.g. Swissmedic, US-FDA) and customer audits

  • Strong experience in CAPEX process with a very good understanding of Project Management

  • Strong leadership skills in a matrix organization

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

  • Open-minded for new ideas in a fast changing environment

  • Strong business understanding

  • Proactive and solution-oriented team player 

  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English, German would be an advantage
